Define environment and load

List impact, bending, temperature, chemicals, UV, cleaning and expected life. Include whether the part is structural, protective, cosmetic or disposable.

Define conversion and appearance

Clarify whether the sheet will be printed, cut, machined, bent, bonded, welded or thermoformed. State transparency, haze, gloss, color and surface expectations.

Define commercial and compliance limits

Order volume, tooling budget, destination market, recycled content and documentation can remove otherwise suitable materials from the shortlist.

Which clear plastic is easiest to fabricate?+

Acrylic and PETG are common fabrication choices, while polycarbonate is often chosen for impact. The process and end use determine the best fit.

Which sheet is best for vacuum forming?+

PETG, PET, PVC, ABS and other materials can be thermoformed. Grade, tool depth, appearance and compliance determine the selection.

Should I choose material before contacting a fabricator?+

Not necessarily. Share performance and process requirements; the fabricator can compare suitable grades.
